Time to tune in to The Sunset Channel! Gloucester Pool is a very popular place for Central Ontario cottage goers. A very convenient drive to the GTA, it offers excellent fishing and watersports, beautiful scenery and is well situated on Muskoka's doorstep. The Sunset Channel is on Gouette Island and a very, very short boat ride from the marina - quite doable in a human-powered craft - so while less expensive than a typical "drive to" cottage, it still offers the convenience of easy trips out and about combined with the privacy and serenity that a water access property provides. A water taxi-service is also available from the local marina - approximately $35 for a 1-way trip (Timing and price should be verified by calling Gloucester Pool Resort Marina at 705-538-1203). The cottage sits on the north side of the channel, meaning you can enjoy the sunsets in the west - hence the name. Of course, there is much more than the sunsets here. The cottage is neat and cozy inside, offering 3 bedrooms and sleeping for 6, a 3-piece bathroom, living room and kitchen. The master bedroom, living room and kitchen all enjoy a view of the channel, while the other bedrooms back onto a quiet wooded area. There is a full deck waterside, and you will no doubt want to spend some time relaxing and barbecuing - or both! A dock is also a nice place to pass the time and of course is the launch pad for your water activity. There is a shallow, sandy entry next to the dock and the water deepens gradually. As you get out towards the end of the dock there is some weed, but by then you are swimming above them. Day trips are easy and Port Severn has what you need for the basics, as well as a number of food options - we have been to the Schoolhouse Restaurant for Fish and Chips on more than one occasion and will certainly be back. Just a little furher afield, Midland-Penatanguishene or Coldwater offer shopping and entertainment.
