There's always something magically Canadian about the Orillia/Lake Couchiching area and when we visited this cottage, it was easy to see that the owners had rekindled a classic cottage atmosphere. From the blue water shore of the lake to the picturesque views to the breathtaking sunsets to the inviting interior, Mariposa Cottage has everything you need when you and your family are looking for a true cottage vacation. Being located on the eastern side of the lake and facing west-northwest, the cottage enjoys the sunshine during the day and some fabulous sunsets in the evening. The main cottage features a living room that blends open seating and a fireplace with a dining area enjoying floor-to-ceiling windows offering a perpetual lake view. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped as you would expect in a cottage of this nature. On the top levelyou will find a gem of a bedroom loft, complete with another fabulous fiew, its own en suite, and air-conditioning should temperatures heat up. If you aren't the lucky pair in your group to claim this one, fear not, for there is an elegant master bedroom on the second level, with its own en suite as well as an electric fireplace. The sleeping arrangements are rounded out with 3 more bedrooms on a lowest level plus a wonderful waterfront boathouse-converted-to-bunkie. If the enjoyment of the week results in some dirty clothes, there is a washer/dryer to deal with that as well. The lawn is expansive and enjoys flat areas for tossing a ball around or enjoying a game of badminton or bocce. Of course, the waterfront is always the main attraction and it won't disappoint here. A long dock is great for sitting and soaking up the sun and of course for what docks do best - mooring up a boat. The water is great for swimming and the owner tells us that when you get about 50 feet from shore the water deepens and it's a spot where a lot of fish hang out...we'll let the anglers decide what to do with that little bit of information. Out and about, you are in the middle of cottage country. A drive to the north will take you the the Gravenhurst/Bala/Bracebridge areas, while heading the other way gets you to Casino Rama, with Orillia and all it has to offer just beyond that.
